Friday Night Treat

Since we missed our usual Friday night Gosh (sushi) dinner tonight and had to eat leftovers (not our favorite!) we decided to give ourselves a little treat, Bruster's Ice Cream! It is the best little ice cream shop in Lakeland. Creamy homemade flavors like Blueberry Cobbler, Graham Cracker Crunch, Bananas Foster.... I got a scoop of the Bananas Foster in a cup and Ren got Strawberry Cheesecake in a sugar cone. These days our little tank eats EVERYTHING in site. If we are eating, he must have a bite. First I gave him a try of mine off my spoon. He was licking and smacking his lips with his tongue, it was hilarious. He obviously got a taste for it, because he kept leaning forward to get licks off daddy's cone. Sugar high here we come!
P.S. I love that we live in Florida, so it is totally not weird to go out for ice cream at 7 pm in the middle of January!

Love for the Weekend & New Shoes

I love the weekends. Waking up and NOT having to rush to get me ready, Conor's bag packed, breakfast made, Conor up and dressed and/or bundled for this frigid weather we have had. It is so nice to take a break from all of that and just enjoy the day! Last weekend we were able to go visit Natalie, Seth and their 2 month old baby AJ. He is getting so big already! He is smiling and so much more alert now. Conor had fun walking around barefoot and checking out his new little friend.

Eating lunch at Panera Bread (yummy mac & cheese). Conor actually kept his hat on the whole time! It was COLD that weekend!

This weekend was a big milestone, we went to Stride Rite to get Conor's first pair of walking shoes! I know it sounds cheesy, but that is where my first pair of shoes came from and many more after that. I remember being so excited as a little girl to go into Stride Rite to pick out my new shoes! Well, Conor was NOT as excited as I used to be... he cried like he was at the dr. office just when they measured his little foot! haha! He is a size 4 and Bubbe bought him the CUTEST pair of little hiker shoes. He looks like such a big boy walking around with his new shoes on. It took a bit of getting used to, not quiet as easy as walking around in bare feet. Cousin Jilli also came and got her first pair of walking shoes. They are adorable white high tops with little embrodered flowers. She didn't mind getting her feet measured, but was NOT happy once the shoes were put on her feet and double knotted. Overall it was a bit traumatizing for the babies, but definitely a memory we will never forget!

Walking around in his new room with his new shoes on.

I just had to, you know why.... b/c I am obsessed

A Chilly Day, Great for Walking

Today was one of the coldest days on record here in Lakeland FL. We were supposed to get some snow (maybe) but, alas, all we got was some very cold rain. I think with the wind chill the temperature was in the TEENS!! Some people said there was sleet, but I wouldn't know since we stayed inside ALL day. We were in our PJs till noon and had a wonderful time playing with all of Conor's new Birthday and Christmas toys. We even opened up two more birthday toys that were still in the packaging!

Conor is getting more and more confident walking on his own. He is so proud of himself as he bounds over to me or Ren basically leaping into our lap when he gets to us. It is so nice to spend a quiet day at home with nothing to do but hang out with my family. It makes me wonder how it would be if we lived up north where they actually got snow all the time. I think we would have a lot more quiet days at home. Something about the Florida sunshine and warm weather just makes you get our there and do stuff. I have to say, though I do love the cold, I am glad to live in Florida where it will be warm again soon!

Here is a video of our little munchie doing his Frankenstein walk!

A Happy, Healthy 2010

Happy New Year!! We were so happy to have my mom offer to watch Conor on New Year's Eve. We were able to go to dinner and a movie with our good friends Jimmy & Kristen. We ate a delicious dinner at Grillsmith (and I had two pomegranite martinis, yum!). Then went to see Sherlock Homes at the Cobb Theater. We had a great night out, and made it home by 10:30. We watched the ball drop on TV in Times Square and toasted champagne with my mom, then headed to bed. A far cry from the crazy New Years Eves of past, but I prefer it this way now :)

Conor, cozy and ready for bed as mommy and daddy head out to celebrate New Year's Eve

I am happy to report that Conor's ear infections, yes he had TWO right before Christmas, are all cleared up. We went back to the doctor today to get him checked out and to get his shots that he missed at his twelve month check up because the poor little guy was so sick (I hope this does not become a habit, getting sick on each holiday). He was a trooper with his ear infections and cutting his FOURTH tooth (top right). He just LOVED the watermelon flavored amoxicillian that he had to take. He would open his mouth and suck it down, wanting more! Thank god I didn't have to force him! He has also become a really good eater! He was weary of the baby food when we started solids, but he absolutely LOVES to feed himself, so bring on the finger foods. I haven't found anything he won't eat. He does NOT want to drink anything but water or juice, but he loves to eat yogurt and cheese so the pediatrician said that should be fine for his calcium and fat intake. He also is taking a vitamin. Wow, it can be overwhelming making sure your kid gets everything they need, but so rewarding at the same time!

Another thing Conor decided to do while we were waiting for the dr. to come in, as he was sitting there in his cute little diaper and nothing else, was to push up from sitting to standing without grabbing on to anything and toddle around the room like a little Frankenstein. Too cute for words really. Then he would fall on his butt and laugh. He is so funny, so independent one moment, then clinging to my leg the next. It is so wonderful to watch him change and grow every day!
