Happy Days & Potty Time

Have I been neglecting you little blog? Yes, a bit.

Is it because I am so busy (the usual excuse) and the couch and a glass of wine look better at the end of the day than anything else, including but not limited to folding laundry, putting away dishes, cleaning the floors and yes even updating my blog. Yes. So here I am ready to write and post some pictures from the happy events that have happened over the past month.

Father's Day
There is something about watching the man you married become the father of your child. There is this whole new level of love I feel. Watching Ren play with our little boy, the little boy he always wanted, brings a smile to my face every time. We have grown together and learn so much more every day. We are surprised and awed and so proud of our little man that seems to be growing up so fast. I love you Ren, thank you for being the wonderful father that you are.

Lil Buckaroo, aka "Lil Ren". Loves wearing his daddy's hat.

My first attempt at yummy fruit pizza. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

Spent the evening at Jenna's celebrating with Uncle Jason and Papa (Ren's dad). Cousin playtime, woo-hoo!

My (29th) Birthday Celebration
To ring in my last year of "20's" we had a small little family pizza party at home on the actual date, June 23. Then Ren and I packed up and spent two relaxing days at the Ocean Hammock Beach Resort, which just so happened to be in beautiful Palm Coast FL, the hometown of one of my bestest friends (not planned at all, wink wink). We had a blast floating in the lazy river, lounging on the beach, sipping pina coladas ... all the good BEACHY stuff that I crave so badly. The tiny (and I mean tiny, only about 5 tables total) Sushi bar on the resort was the BEST sushi we've ever had, for our first night there. The next night Sarah, Anthony, me & Ren went out for dinner, drinks and dancing. LOTS of fun, but lets just say, we can't hang like we used to! Hangovers are a lot easier to deal with in college when all you have to do the next day is stuff your face at the cafeteria and lay out by the pool! Overall a much needed getaway to a beautiful place with awesome people. I couldn't have asked for more. Thanks to Ren's mom, my amazing mom-in-law, for making it happen :)

View from our magnificent hotel suite.

Lounging on the beach.

I like this picture, albeit a little blurry.

Best friends and The Fairway martini. Killer combo.

Independence Day
The sky was gray, the rain was drizzling and had been for days, but would that bring us down, no way! We grilled out and the kiddies splashed in the pool. It was a fantastic day of friends and family. Happy birthday USA!

Favorite pastime at Bubbe & Zayde's.

Cousin love. Looks like she is telling him a secret. I am sure it will be the first of many...

Conor wanted the cooler all to himself.

Not in the mood for a family photo op...

In Other News...
Conor went pee pee on his potty for the first time! July 7, 2010 at 18 1/2 months old, he looked at me, squatted down, touched his diaper and said sweetly "pee pee" ... so I put him on his little blue potty, expecting the usual routine of sitting for 5 minutes to no avail, and alas at the end of these 5 minutes I hear a soft trickle and look into the potty to behold... a puddle of yellow pee!! I was so excited, calling Ren to come see, seriously thinking I should take a picture, but refrained from snapping a shot of pee in a toilet, because, really, do I need that on film? I know it is just the first step, but it is so overwhelming to think that he is already sitting on a potty going pee pee. The more he grows, the more I really learn to cherish every moment. It seems to be going by so fast already and I don't want to miss savoring each memory as it happens. So high five buddy for your first real potty time!
